St. John’s Home-Ed Hub Values
1) Everyone Welcome
We’re glad you’re here. Families come with different stories, beliefs, and home-ed approaches. We aim to be friendly, inclusive, and unpretentious.
2) A Christian Ethos
This Hub meets in a church centre and is shaped by Christian values—kindness, patience, honesty, and grace. Everyone is welcome; we simply ask that this is respected (including during our short time of worship and prayer).
3) Care & Respect
We expect children and families to treat one another with care and respect. If behaviour becomes hurtful or unsafe, we expect parents/carers to address it with one another, and to help children put things right.
4) Safeguarding & Supervision
Parents/carers remain responsible for their children at all times; younger siblings must be supervised. We speak up if something isn’t safe.
5) Community & Shared Responsibility
We include newcomers, handle differences generously, and help look after the space by helping to tidy up and sharing tasks.
Organisers:
Kayi and Mark Nam run the Home-Ed Hub and have been home-educating for 9 years. They are parents to three children, aged 13, 11, and 7.
Mark is the Vicar of St. John’s, Woodley, and Kayi is a former primary school teacher. She completed her PGCE and has taught in both the UK and Asia. Together, they’re passionate about creating a warm, inclusive space where home-educating families can connect, children can flourish, and everyone feels welcome.
